The Prada FW22 Show Reminds Us That Work and Purpose Come Hand in Hand.
The Prada FW22 Show Reminds Us That Work and Purpose Come Hand in Hand.
“Work is a state of reality” the show notes read for Prada’s FW22 Menswear show, Body of Work. And what better way to navigate this notion than to cast the best interpreters of reality – actors. Prada’s runway cast includes ten internationally-renowned Hollywood stars including Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Samson Idris, Ashton Sanders and Filiooi Scotti and Jeff Goldblum to name a few.
“Interpreters of reality,” the notes describe, “employed to echo truth through their portrayals”.
With the notion of work as a fundamental cornerstone of society, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons sought to navigate the wardrobe of the contemporary workman. The collection celebrates modernity yet nods to history, elevating and sculpting shape and form. This is exemplified with eccentricity in silhouette – a detail we know and love Prada for – coupled with the powerful sensibility and confidence of each definitive shape.
Included in the collection are tailored coats and blazers, some leather with shoulder pads, others cuffed with faux-fur trimmed hems; a subtle wink to Prada of the 2000s. Each look is topped off with a polished leather boot and gloves.
“A sense of occasion is given to everyday activity - an import, a worth, emphasising the value of work to society,” the show notes conclude.
