SC103 Is One To Watch

Designers Sophie Andes-Gascon and Claire McKinney are the brains behind clothing brand that is SC103.

After graduating from Pratt Institute, the designers, who lived together at the time, went on to create garments for designer Maryam Nassir Zadeh, one of the first feather in cap moments to their ascent into the fashion industry.

Debuting their first collection at New York Fashion week in 2019, SC103 has had a speedy trajectory. They are now up to their Fall 22 collection where they presented looks almost collaged together; upcycled sweaters patched together as one-of-a-kind knits, asymmetric one-armed tee’s, patchwork multi-coloured skirts, single-sided ruffled dresses coupled with braided bags with keychains, styled with unpaired shoes.

The lookbook itself captures the nature of the collection; collaged and mismatched in perfect harmony.

Grit. The word was chosen because it has multiple meanings: the fine, stony texture of earth or sand; the firmness of character; the clamping of objects together; a person’s courage and tenacity. It’s also an idea that is integral to the making of a magazine, for it takes a lot of perseverance and passion to create these 176 pages. It takes a lot of work.
