Marine Serre's "STATE OF SOUL" for Paris Fashion Week Spring 2023

Arriving fashionably late to Marine Serre's Spring 2023 incarnation after a long metro trip (whereby my train broke down en route to Lycée Michelet stadium), I got off the train and instantly felt the electric energy in the air in anticipation of the show. Perhaps because it was potentially about to thunder, perhaps it was just my excitement, who knows.

In the near distance, I could see the lights of the stadium flooding the space below. I picked up the pace to get in. As soon as I entered, the stadium was brimming with over 1000 people. A friend explained to me as we trotted in that Madame Serre had actually invited 1500 (probably more) fashion students and guests via social media to come and view her runway show. A necessary addition that enhanced the stadium's energy.

As we walked into the track space and rushed to our seats, the show began. The first moments of the show amplified techno music that I can only describe as sounding triumphant. An army emerged from the start of the track, all of whom wearing a unified Marine Serre crescent moon suits with a leader holding a Marine Serre 'Olympic' flag.

Next came the body of Serre's army. Models of all ages walked the runway, sporting the latest offerings of the house. This included Marine Serre's latest range of athletic swimwear made of recycled fibers, a collection of sculptural body-con creations made from upcycled denim, gardener designs, grunge-inspired looks crafted from
upcycled silk scarves in green tones and of course bodysuits encrusted with Marine Serre's signature moon print.

Celebrating six years of Marine Serre, the designer invited her guests back to enjoy a summer night of music, dance, food and cocktails.

A night to remember to be sure.
