Chapter Two of the Love Affair with Gucci and The North Face, with the Environment in Mind

Gucci and The North Face unveil the second instalment of their union. True to form, the collaboration celebrates the spirit of exploration.

"Whether literal discovery of places or cultures or the more metaphorical kind of adventures, this collection once again, addresses the curious drawing from values of self-discovery and self-expression that define both brands."

For the second phase of the collab, Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele conceived a campaign shot by French twins Jalan and Jibril Durimel set in Iceland. The scenes captured exude some of Europe’s most sparsely populated country, with a variety of dramatic landscapes, from volcanic black sand to rolling green hills and awe-striking glaciers.

The collaboration includes a cross-category collection for men and women comprising of ready-to-wear, soft accessories, luggage and shoes, including hiking boots, multi-pocketed backpacks and warm, insulated jackets that powerfully reference the outdoor world of The North Face.

With technology in mind, the styles feature the best in class construction and technology, yet with nods to the 70s features that the brands are well known for. Key elements of these styles hone in on a minimalist approach to performance and function. This includes the use of an ultralight bonded baffle construction instead of stitching and unique yarn constructions to thermoregulate during wear.

With environment being at the core of this collaboration, The second chapter of The North Face x Gucci collection embodies the commitment of both partner brands to support eco-sustainable activities with the use of ECONYL® – a nylon fabric created from regenerated materials (fishing nets, carpets and other scraps) that can be recycled and recreated, decreasing its environmental footprint. Additionally, 100% of the down insulation is certified to the Responsible Down Standard by Control Union.
