Last week, Vans launched Always Pushing, a new content series celebrating global skate crews and cultural influencers. Developed with creative director ALEX/2TONE and featuring music by Paris Texas, the series embodies the essence of skateboarding and pays homage to the forward-thinking ethos that has driven skate culture since Vans’ inception in 1966.

The series features a diverse line-up of creatives, including ALEX/2TONE, the creative director and co-founder of the LA streetwear brand Born X Raised, along with Vans Skate team riders Lizzie Armanto, Elijah Berle, Mami Tesuka, Zion Wright, Willow Voges Fernandes, Hugo Westrelin, Tania Cruz, Rio Morishige, Beatrice Domond, and Curren Caples. Skate legend Tony Alva, rap duo Paris Texas, photographer and Vans Brand Curator Atiba Jefferson, artist Jahlil Nzinga, and a host of global skateboarders and BMXers also contribute to the project.

Drieke Leenknegt, Vans Global Chief Marketing Officer, describes the campaign as an opportunity to “inspire and empower our consumers to live ‘Off The Wall’ and embody the relentless determination to push things forward.” The campaign serves as a call to action for the Vans community to shape the future and steer culture in their desired direction.

Grit. The word was chosen because it has multiple meanings: the fine, stony texture of earth or sand; the firmness of character; the clamping of objects together; a person’s courage and tenacity. It’s also an idea that is integral to the making of a magazine, for it takes a lot of perseverance and passion to create these 176 pages. It takes a lot of work.
