Sonar Lisboa 2023

Sonar Lisboa 2023

Since its first edition in 1994, Sonar has set the agenda for electronic music and digital culture around the globe. Acting as a springboard for new and emerging trends, the pioneering European festival, reflects and amplifies the present and future musical landscape, hosting the most influential artists of the current moment across its multiple stages and venues.
After three decades of organising more than 100 editions in 35 cities Sónar will once again embark on an international tour in 2023. The 30th anniversary celebrations begin with the second edition of Sónar Lisboa, taking place in the heart of the Portuguese capital from 31st March until 2nd April.
Despite only being the second iteration, the Sónar Lisboa programme will cover the entire spectrum of electronic music, from the familiar and beloved dance floor sounds to more unorthodox, experimental tracks from both emerging and established artists. As Enric Palau, co-director of Sónar, affirms: “The festival celebrates its 30th anniversary with an entirely electronic programme, which celebrates club culture, the role of the DJ as a cultural symbol of our time and the diversity of sounds at the heart of today's electronic music scene.”
The first announcement was headlined by three unparalleled live performances from Bulgarian producer KiNK, an AV show from Max Cooper, and the hypnotic, jazzy electronica of WhoMadeWho. The globetrotters DJ Tennis b2b Carlita of Astra Club, and Acid Pauli will also be bringing their expansive and emotional vision of electronic music to the event. So too will DJs Mochakk, Folamour, VTSS, Héctor Oaks live and I Hate Models, each showcasing the diversity of high-energy, relentless, cinematic modern techno and house music. Local heroes DJ Nigga Fox of the label Príncipe and Shaka Lion will again return, alongside Yen Sung and Rui Vargas, idols in the Portuguese house and techno scene since the 90's.
With an emphasis on art, music, science and technology, Sónar Lisboa 2023 will offer a space for the exchange of ideas, collaboration, co-creations, and pure joy. From Lisbon, the Sonar tour continues 28 – 29 April with the 7th edition of Sónar Istanbul and culminates with the 30th edition of Sónar Barcelona from 15 – 17 June.
