Lemaire Teaches Us A Lesson In Subtle Sophistication

18 January 2024

For Fall/Winter 2024, Lemaire unveiled the collection at its Paris headquarters, a first for the fashion house. The setting featured a circular runway where models showcased the collection. Their movement reflected Lemaire's focus on fluidity, highlighting the brand's established sophisticated style.

Sensual, soft fabrics and fluid tailoring brought an air of effortless wearability to the collection. The brand’s notable pared-back styling was shown in a neutral palette of cacao, clay, sandy beige hues, and earthy greens. An oversized chocolate brown suit and tone-on-tone tan pairings proved that monochromatic winter looks still reign supreme.

Clever conceptual layering and alluring details brought a welcomed sense of intrigue to the impeccably cut silhouettes. With their western collars and bolo ties, block-heeled ballet flats worn with stirrup leggings, delicate embroidery, and embellished renditions of the infamous Croissant bag, Lemaire cemented the notion that luxury is found in the details.

With practicality at the forefront, outerwear styles were enhanced with coated cotton, waterproof blocktech, and Japanese nylon, offering protection from the elements. Accessories also saw a functional update, with cross-body bags presented in oversized volumes and hiking trainers complementing loose silhouettes.

This season was a continuation of Christophe Lemaire and Sarah Linh Tran’s understated interpretation of luxury. Exploring the intimate connection between wearers and their clothing, the resulting collection was as endlessly wearable as it was refined.

Grit. The word was chosen because it has multiple meanings: the fine, stony texture of earth or sand; the firmness of character; the clamping of objects together; a person’s courage and tenacity. It’s also an idea that is integral to the making of a magazine, for it takes a lot of perseverance and passion to create these 176 pages. It takes a lot of work.
