Jonathan Anderson Departs LOEWE After 11 Years

Jonathan Anderson’s departure from LOEWE has now been confirmed, marking the end of his eleven-year tenure at the house. Since his appointment in 2013, Anderson has reshaped the brand with a visionary approach that bridged past and present, craft and innovation. His tenure saw LOEWE emerge as a leader in modern luxury, defined by its commitment to craftsmanship, materiality, and an ever-evolving cultural dialogue with art, film and fashion.
“While reflecting on the last 11 years, I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by people with the imagination, the skills, the tenacity, and the resourcefulness to find a way to say ‘yes’ to all my wildly ambitious ideas,” Anderson shared. “While my chapter draws to a close, LOEWE’s story will continue for many years to come, and I will look on with pride, watching it continue to grow, the amazing Spanish brand I once called home.”
Just 24 hours before his final March presentation, Anderson hinted at his farewell with a two-and-a-half-minute Instagram reel—a montage of his tenure featuring familiar faces like Jennifer Coolidge and Aubrey Plaza, interspersed with moments from the atelier and runway. The video, much like his work, embodied his ability to assemble a “scrapbook of ideas,” transforming materials into tangible, wearable objects, curated with the precision of fine art.
Under Anderson’s leadership, LOEWE experienced remarkable growth, redefining the codes of luxury while reinforcing its Spanish legacy as a leather goods company. His impact extended beyond fashion, launching the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, a global platform dedicated to preserving vanishing crafts.
Pascale Lepoivre, LOEWE’s CEO, praised Anderson’s influence: “I am incredibly grateful for the eleven years of unmatched creativity, passion, and dedication he has given to LOEWE. With him as creative director, the house has risen to new heights with international recognition. The Puzzle bag, celebrating its 10th anniversary, has become a true icon, and the brand codes he created, rooted in craft, will live on as his legacy.”
Sidney Toledano, Chairman and CEO of LVMH Fashion Group, echoed this sentiment: “I have had the pleasure of working with some of the great artistic directors of recent times, and I consider Jonathan Anderson to be among the very best. What he has contributed to LOEWE goes beyond creativity. He has built a rich and eclectic world with strong foundations in craft, which will enable the house to thrive long after his departure.”
As the fashion industry speculates on what’s next, Anderson leaves us not with anticipation but with reflection on the legacy of LOEWE, on the language of craft, and on a body of work that will resonate far beyond his time at the house.
